For those days with unbelievable heat when the sun is shining high in the sky, you should try out these delicious fast fruit desserts!

Fast Fruit Desserts: Fresh Dessert

We all know those moments when we want to eat something fresh, delicious, but at the same time easy to cook. If there aren’t many cakes that need a short cooking time, thankfully there are lots of ideas for fast fruit desserts that will save you from spending a lot of time in the kitchen. Let’s see some ideas!

1. Use chocolate! Of course, what can’t miss from a delicious dessert? Chocolate! Probably the most popular dessert is made of strawberries covered in chocolate, but you can also vary the menu. Try bananas and chocolate and basically any of your favorite fruits will taste amazingly if you want this combination on your plate!

2. Make crazy combinations! You like pistachio, coconut and pineapple? Why not combine them for a fast fruit dessert? Add cream, coconut milk and sprinkle chocolate over and you’ll have one of the tastiest desserts you have ever tasted in virtually no time! Also, the combinations can vary a lot, and the limit is only your imagination. Moreover, this idea is great if you have some guests over, since you can prepare a separate dessert for everybody, depending on their own taste and preferences.

3. Ice Cream. What reminds you most of summer other than ice cream? Don’t be afraid to use it in the craziest combinations. You can add the same fruit the ice cream is made of, for instance if you have a bowl of pineapple ice cream, you can add some fresh pieces of pineapple to complete the taste. Alternatively, you can combine several flavors, for instance, real cherries with chocolate ice cream, or vanilla with raspberry, strawberry, etc. Add some caramel topping for extra sweetness!

4. Alcohol. Even though it shouldn’t be used in large quantities, alcohol is a great idea for a fruit salad or a fast fruit dessert. Add some Grand Marnier and some lemon juice over strawberries and add whipped cream. You will be amazed to see how much this changes the original taste and how the dessert gets new subtle fresh hints.

5. Freeze fruits. A great addition to any dessert are the frozen fruits. Cut pieces of banana, kiwi and berries and store them in the freezer. Then use them for any fast fruit desserts, combine them with the already mentioned ingredients or simply with a couple of them. More than that, this idea is brilliant because you can use the fruits for other things in the kitchen also. If you’re making a more complicated recipe, you can make it even more delicious by sprinkling frozen berries, not to mention that they are a great companion to ice cream or even smoothies.

6. Mix hot and cold. A surprising, yet tasty combination is the mix between hot and cold. If you love pancakes, try combining them while they’re hot with some ice cream and also some frozen fruits. The melting ice cream is absolutely delicious, while the fruits bring some extra flavor to a great dish!

Healthy Snacks: Nut Mix

We all know how busy life is, especially when you’re working in an office. And all the stress, the long hours and the chaotic sleep schedule can push us to eat very unhealthy all the time. But thankfully, there are lots of healthy food recipes out there, and the Internet is a very valuable resource in this case. That’s why we prepared you a great selection of healthy snacks, whether you’re in the office or want to eat something in front of the TV at home.

1. Cheese and fruits. For extra protein if you’re feeling hungry, but it’s not lunchtime yet, you can try combining cottage cheese with various fruits. Pick your favorite ones or go for superfruits like bananas, berries or melon. Ideally the quantities should be 50-50, but you can vary it depending on your taste.

2. Mix of nuts. One of the healthy snacks that test your creativity too is a mix of nuts. Depending on what you like, you can mix together peanuts, Macadamia nuts, almonds, pistachios and basically anything you can think of. Add some dried fruits for extra sweetness, like raisins, for instance, or dried apple or banana slices.

3. Seeds. You can try sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds. Roast them and enjoy them as such or add them to yogurts or salads for extra flavor. Many people prefer this option because it’s very healthy and easier to prepare than other complicated recipes.

4. Protein shakes. Get your daily need of proteins from smart shakes! Protein powders are often used when eating healthy, although there are lots of opinions against them. In the end, it’s a matter about personal choice!

5. Tofu. This soy cheese is an all-time popular dish for those who want to eat healthy. Of course, you can follow the classic recipe of stir-frying it, but you can also bake it. Slice it and put it in the oven, then add spices on it or other vegetables on the side and enjoy one of the tastiest healthy snacks ever!

6. Eat fish. Fish is a great source of protein, without all the extra carbs and unhealthy additions. Choose tuna and salmon, grill them and add them to any salad you like. Remember to always use palm tree or olive oil and choose the healthier options. Sardines are also an option that’s suitable on the go, so you might think of that as well.

7. Peanut butter. Though you wouldn’t exactly think of this as the healthiest snack, if you do it yourself or look for a more natural one than those full of sugar, it’s a great option to live healthier! Eat it on whole grain bread or use fruit slices as base for serving it. A small teaspoon of peanut butter is excellent when tasted together with a slice of apple, for instance.

8. Vegetable juice. Even though many people prefer fruit juice for the healthy snacks, cucumber, tomato or other vegetables are also great for having a healthy snack whenever you feel like eating or drinking healthy!

Of course, Easter eggs can’t miss from your table if you’re going to celebrate Easter like you should. It’s not hard at all to make some yourself, for a truly special chocolate surprise! Just buy an egg shape from the store or use the one you already have, if that’s the case. Just pour the chocolate into the mold and leave it to harden over night or even in the fridge for a fast effect. The best part about Easter eggs is that you can decorate them in thousands of ways, exactly as you wish! Pro tip: if you really want to surprise your loved ones, make a special dessert using half an Easter egg and fill it with goodies, like ice cream, fruits and sprinkles. Yummy!

One of the most delicious Easter recipes we want to present you is the nest treat. For this, you will need to melt 3 tbsp of  butter or, if you don’t have butter, margarine, in a large bowl. Add 3 cups of marshmallows and place them in the microwave oven for around a minute. They will puff up and then you will need to take them out. Stir them well until they melt again. Now it’s time to use some chow mein noodles (those who love Chinese know what we’re talking about!). Add them in and mix until they’re well coated. Then use them to make nests. For this, you can use as a base a silicone mat or waxed paper. Put some sweets in the middle, marzipan figurines or chocolate eggs and voila, there you have it!

Our list of Easter recipes goes on with a zucchini frittata. Light and healthy, this recipe is also easy to make and it’s quite a time saver. You will need 4 large eggs, 4 tbsp of olive, 4 tbsp of parmesan cheese, 3 zucchini, 10 mint leaves and a pinch of salt. Slice the zucchinis and put them in hot oil in a big pan for 1 minute. Stir them and then chop the mint in the pan. Let them cook and meanwhile, you can prepare the egg mix. Turn on a low heat flame and mix in a bowl the eggs, together with the Parmesan cheese and a pinch of salt. Put the mix on the zucchini and stir them well. Now move the mix into a bigger pan and put it in the oven preheated at 375 F. Leave it there for 25 minutes and take it out. If you want, you can broil the frittata another 5 minutes if you want it to have a beautiful golden color. Let it cool and enjoy it!

If you though food is only to be tasted with your taste buds, let us show you how you can appreciate a dish with your eyes too!

Food Art: Watermelon Carving

Design is not reserved only for the kitchen as a room, but also for your plate. Beauty is not a concept available just for the eyes and we have to integrate it in our life through our taste buds too, so why not have a look at some interesting food art examples and marvel at the skill some people have? And if you feel creative today, you may even want to try some of these examples too!

Geographic themes are often found when it comes to decorating your plate and playing with food in a unique way. Country outlines are definitely a good idea, and sometimes the easy way out when you want to be creative without too much fuss. In this way, Paris’ Tour Eiffel or Italy’s shape are among the most popular choices. Some people prefer to use paper stencils to help them in creating shapes from liquid foods, while other prefer using hard foods and cutting them directly in the wanted shape. Either way, you can be sure that such a design will be tasty and beautiful at the same time!

Nature is also another great element where people find inspiration for creating food art. Animals in general are easier to make, just like flowers and plants. Generally, birds and sunflowers are among the most popular patterns encountered in plates all around the world. Roses are also often made of tomatoes or apples, while you can also use owls or penguins as inspiration. Basically your imagination is the only limit you can have!

Although somewhat more difficult than the single depictions of animals, plants or countries through food, entire landscapes are definitely more impressive. Certainly, they’re much more complex and they take more time, but the final result is definitely gorgeous and unique. Marine landscapes are suitable for the specific type of Mediterranean food, while a mountain landscape can be created using almost any type of food, more or less.

A little bit different than the type of food art we presented you up until now is the food sculpture. It’s a little harder than simply assembling images in your plate, but it’s equally rewarding. There are even special classes in some cities where they teach you how to create beautiful sculptures from watermelons, apples, peppers and lots of other foods. There are even specialized competitions where people come with their own sculpted watermelons and they choose the most beautiful one.

Finally, now that you realized food art is definitely an art, maybe next time you’ll look in your plate you’ll be curious to see how you can use your creativity to make something truly unique and wonderful that will delight not only your eyes, but also your taste buds. And maybe we convinced you to discover the real talent of some people who decided that food is not only to be eaten, but also a material for art and for amazing creations. Enjoy your dish!

The best solution is to look for an easy chocolate cake recipe and to follow it closely. This is a special recipe that will certainly save the day, or the party, or the dinner!

For this easy chocolate cake you will need:

  • 10 mls vanilla extract
  • 5 mls baking powder
  • 360 mls whole milk
  • 480 mls all-purpose flour
  • 161 mls granulated sugar
  • 2 mls salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 5 mls baking soda
  • 120 mls unsweetened cocoa
  • 161 mls dark brown sugar
  • 180 mls butter
  • Frosting

First of all, you will need to make a batter. Remember to preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Then, take the cake pans (preferably 8-inch ones) and coat them with softened butter. Dust them with flour and tap out any excess. Leave them aside and start making the batter. Set the mixer at a low speed and mix the flour with the rest of the ingredients. Mix for 3 minutes at medium speed.

Split the batter equally in the pans and make sure it’s evenly spread. Place the pans on the middle rack of the oven until you see that the tops spring back when you touch them. Take them out of the oven and let them cool down for 10 minutes. Use gently a knife and loosen the cake from the pan sides. Then invert them in order to cool completely.

Level the tops of the cake layers if they need it. Place parchment paper or waxed paper on a special cake plate. Then put one layer of the cake side down on top of them. Make sure the layer is with the trimmed side down. Use half of the frosting you have on top of the layer and spread it evenly. Then place the second layer on it, and use the rest of the frosting on it and also around. Remove the paper strips you have placed in the beginning and it’s ready to be served! Make sure you store it in the fridge and that you don’t keep it more than 4 days. Well, that is, if nobody eats it until then.

Of course, you can decorate it with whatever you want. It can become even more delicious if you add some fruits on it as decorations. Try using strawberries, bananas or any other fruits you enjoy. The best part about this recipe of easy chocolate cake is that it’s very fast and it uses chocolate, which is a safe bet if you’re hosting a party or a dinner. Enjoy!
