Home Caprice is a website of heating and cooling guides. You can read every page without an account or a sign-up.
Who we are
Home Caprice is run by BDM Business, V. Mykolaičio-Putino g. 10-39, LT-03155 Vilnius, Lithuania. We are responsible for the personal information described on this page.
For anything about your data, email feedback@homecaprice.com.
The short version
- Analytics only runs if you say yes in the cookie banner.
- We only have your email address if you sign up for the newsletter, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- If you email us, we use your details only to reply.
- The Find a Pro form belongs to Networx. What you type there goes to them, not to us.
- Affiliate links let a store know you came from us. They don't tell us who you are.
Analytics and cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and what we should improve. It only loads if you accept analytics in the cookie banner.
When it runs, it records things like the pages you view, how you found the site, your device and browser, and your approximate location. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services.
The banner saves your choice on your device, so it doesn't ask on every page. To change your mind, use the Cookie settings link at the bottom of any page, and the banner will ask again.
Newsletter
Our newsletter form asks only for your email address. If you sign up, we use MailerLite to store it and to send our emails. MailerLite can show us whether you opened an email and which links you clicked.
Every email has an unsubscribe link. If you also want your address deleted, email us. MailerLite's privacy policy explains how it handles data.
Messages you send us
If you email us at any address on our contact page, we receive your name, your email address and what you write. We use them only to reply to you, and we don't share them with third parties.
Find a Pro requests
Our Find a Pro page includes a request form run by Networx, a US company that connects homeowners with local contractors. What you enter there, such as your contact details and a description of the job, goes straight to Networx, not to us. Networx uses it to match you with local HVAC contractors, who may then contact you.
Networx's privacy policy explains how it handles your details. We may earn a referral fee when you use the service.
Affiliate links
Many product links on the site are affiliate links to Amazon through the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. Our disclosures explain how this works.
When you click one, the store may use cookies to record that you came from Home Caprice, so we can earn a commission if you buy. The store tells us which products people bought through our links, but not their names or contact details. Its own privacy policy covers what happens on its site, in this case the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.
Videos, images and server logs
Some pages play videos from YouTube, which Google owns. The player loads only when you scroll near it, in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which sets no cookies until you press play. Loading the player does send a request to Google's servers, which Google may log, and the player may keep a small setting in your browser. When you play a video, Google may collect information as described in its privacy policy.
Product images in our recommendations load from Amazon's servers, so Amazon can see your IP address, as any website can when your browser loads something from it.
Three guides include a calculator from Omni Calculator. It loads only when you open it, and Omni's own analytics run inside it, under Omni's privacy policy.
Our web host, Hostinger, records basic technical details when a page loads, such as your IP address, your browser and the page requested. These server logs help keep the site running and secure.
Legal basis and where data goes
We rely on your consent for analytics and the newsletter, and you can withdraw it at any time. For replying to your messages and keeping server logs, we rely on our legitimate interests: answering you and running a secure site.
Google, Amazon and Networx are based in the United States, so information they collect may be processed there.
How long we keep it
Google Analytics keeps its data for the retention period set in our account. Your address stays on the newsletter list until you unsubscribe, and we will delete it completely if you ask. We keep your messages as long as we need them to answer you, and we will delete them if you ask.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it or delete it. You can also object to how we use it, or ask us to limit it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
To do any of this, email feedback@homecaprice.com. You can also complain to a data protection authority, such as Lithuania's State Data Protection Inspectorate.
Children
Home Caprice is written for adults, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you think a child has sent us their details, email us and we will delete them.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date.
