Lasko is a recognizable and unique brand when it comes to fans, so it isn’t surprising that Lasko tower fans require a bit of a different cleaning approach.
A lot of people are cleaning their fans incorrectly and wonder when they get damaged or decrease their efficiency.
I’ll lay out the best step-by-step cleaning process for Lasko tower fans.
Before diving into the cleaning part, let’s first talk about the tools you’ll need and what to do before cleaning.
Tools Needed While Cleaning
Here are the tools you’ll need when cleaning the Lasko tower fan:
- Klein screwdriver
- Vacuum cleaner (recommended)
- Spray cleaner
- Brushes
- Cloth
How To Disassemble A Lasko Tower Fan
- Take a screwdriver and unscrew all the screws with an anti-clockwise motion to detach the interior of the fan from the plastic.
- Gently pull the control panel from the fan panel
- Now, if you want to clean the tower fan completely, disassemble the fan blades by turning them in the opposite direction.
- Detach the tower fan from the stand, so it doesn’t fall down and damage while vacuuming it.
Note: If these steps are complicated for you, I recommend watching this step-by-step video.

1. Unplug the unit
First things first, you should unplug the unit.
Any touch with electricity can be dangerous, so we don’t want to take risks.
2. Turn on the vacuum cleaner
Attach your brushes to the vacuum cleaner and simply turn on the vacuum.
You can vacuum or brush the front side of the grills – it will remove all the dirt and dust that has been stuck in the grills.
Do this for around 2-5 minutes depending on when was the last time you actually cleaned it.
3. Use a soft cloth
Grab a cloth, dip it in water, and clean the outside of the fan.
If there are any “unremovable” marks, you can use alcohol to get rid of them as well.
Very simple and effective. Similar to cleaning marks from other fans.
If you don’t have a vacuum cleaner (I highly recommend you do), scroll above and read how to disassemble the fan.
How Often Should You Clean a Tower Fan?
A tower fan works by creating a cooling effect while moving the hot air around.
After some time, the tower collects dirt and dust which affects performance and durability.
It’s recommended to clean the tower fan at least once a month if you’re using it every day. Depending on your fan and filters, you might consider cleaning it every three weeks.
Some of my friends who don’t use the fan often, clean it every two months.
Note: When there’s a lot of dust and dirt in the filters, it will start producing a certain smell.
