Though there are a few differences between the 660 and 733 there are effectively 3 key differences between the 2 fans. They are the direction you can point the fan, the number of speeds, and the switches/controls.
Fan direction
A fairly key component of a fan is the direction you can point the fan. The Vornado fans are a bit different to other fans in that they are not made to oscillate, they work by creating a ‘vortex’ of air movement around the room.
The increase in air movement creates the cooler surroundings, rather than just blowing on you like a standard fan. So the fans are designed to be stationary and be pointed at the walls to help create that airflow.
No the difference between the 660 and 733 is that the 660 has no fixed direction along its axis, where you have to point it, so you can point it effectively anywhere along the axis.
The 733, however, has 3 fixed positions on the axis where it can point. This effectively means a little less control over where you can point the fan.
Speeds
Another key difference in the 660 vs 733 battle is the number of speed each fan has.
The 733 comes equipped with 3 speeds while the 660 has 4 speeds giving you slightly more control over the amount of airflow coming from the fan.
Controls
The design of the 2 fans is a little bit different with the 733, the older model of the 2 fans having a slightly more dated design (funnily enough).
To control the fan speeds there is a dial on the back of the fan which you twist around to get to each speed, similar to a volume dial on a stereo.
The 660, however, is a bit more modern in form and function with the controls to change the speeds being in the form of a button, so all you do is press the buttons to change the speeds.

Design
The design of the 2 fans is not too dissimilar however the 660 is the newer fan and does have, what one might say, an updated design.
Its finish is more glassy and the unit itself is more sleek looking than its 733 counterparts.
On both fans, you are able to remove the front grill, which makes the cleaning of both the 660 and 733 easy.

The feedback is overwhelmingly good for both these fans and there is not much that differentiates them when it comes to customer satisfaction.
In some ways it is not surprising, as effectively it looks as if the 660 is a slight upgrade of the 733.
